Trapunto comes from the word meaning “to quilt” in Italian, and usually refers to concentric lines of stitching on a woven fabric. This sweater from Gentry Portofino has the same effect, except it’s knit into the sweater instead of stitched. It’s a fun effect, giving the sweater some great heft and texture.
The style itself is wonderfully versatile. We’ve shown it over one of our Alberta Ferretti blouses, but it would be a terrific layer over just about anything. The bell sleeves and generous body make sure that whatever you wear it with, you won’t feel confined or tight, despite the luxe thick cashmere.
