MENS TRENDS FROM PITTI (AND HOW TO WEAR THEM)

Our owner David has just returned from the Pitti Uomo shows in Florence, Italy – full of excitement for the upcoming buying season and with lots of ideas. Here are a couple trends he noticed in the marketplace, and some looks from our current season sale that will help you look on point!

TREND: WHITE AND OFF-WHITE CLOTHES

A white garment is a very fresh choice; it feels cooler in hot weather, is eye-catching without being too flashy, and coordinates with just about any other color.  At Pitti we saw softly pleated white trousers, double breasted white and cream suits, skinny white sport pants and jeans, and white cotton and silk shirts (sporty and dressy) EVERYWHERE.

HOW TO WEAR IT

Our white and off-white garments this season were chosen with an eye for easy care and flexibility in wear. A snowy pearl polo like this one from Patrick Assaraf is great on its own with shorts or under a sport coat, and has a great texture.  While we love a bright white pant, chalk is slightly less prone to little marks and spots and when it’s made up in a cotton stretch like this pant from Brax, it’s VERY easy to clean.  And every guy needs a cool white sport shirt – it’s one of the most versatile pieces you can wear!  This one from Transit has some great details and looks great on its own, but will also layer well under a jacket.

TREND: SHADES OF RED

Red is not quite as relaxed as white – it’s a charged color and always notable, but it’s not off-putting, either. People LOVE this look and will let you know how fabulous you’re rocking it.  At Pitti, we saw red sport coats, two and three piece suits, and all manner of accessories.

HOW TO WEAR IT

A red sport coat doesn’t have to be particularly loud – this brick shade from Luciano Barbera is surprisingly versatile…it’s a natural choice for a wide variety of shirts and pants (try it with beige and blue like we did here, but you’ll love it with grey pants and a white shirt, white pants and a pink shirt…you’ll be surprised how easy it is!   Not a sport coat guy?  Try a fun red shirt or sweatshirt like this reversible Raffi crewneck, and if you just want a hint of color, there’s always a great looking pocket square.
